THE ULTIMATE TUNE-UP

Here at "Great Western Sewing Machine Services" our standard procedures for sewing machine/serger tune-ups involve ALL of the following steps:

  1. Remove ALL machine covers to gain complete access to the entire interior mechanisms. This step can be extremely time consuming and general product knowledge is a MUST. Our comparison to the automobile is that if you don't open the hood, how can you change the spark plugs?!

  2. Once access is gained, the machine then receives a thorough washout using GW3000 (agitene parts wash fluid) which removes old oil, grease, dust build-up, etc. It's then completely dried using an air compressor (With moisture trap!).Ultimately the surfaces are as clean as when the machine was brand new! In comparison:don't you feel better after having a hot bath after a long trip? Your machine will reward you for this special treatment! This process insures the free movement of all moving parts. NOTE: Most dealers do not likely perform this step. Inadequate cleaning of sewing machines and sergers includes: lint brush, vacuum and basic compressor. Without being thoroughly cleansed using Agitene, these methods are not enough for a professional technician and more suitable for home maintenance purposes.
  3. Since all covers have been removed, now is a good time to scrub, clean and polish them so that they are as clean as the inside of your machine. The machine will look like brand-new inside and out!

Repair/Tune-up .....the easy part!....No matter what type of machine you are working with, they all operate basically the same way! All of the adjustments are now being made so that the machine operates as efficiently as it was engineered to. (If not better.) Each component is inspected/adjusted and lubricated in a specific sequence so that it is certain to bring their function up to their highest standard of operation. The bottom line on sewing machine/serger repair is that a LARGE number of functions MUST be correct in order for the machine to operate at its utmost efficiency. NOTE: Most technicians do not understand these theories of machine operation and I constantly try to educate them, as well as my clients, as to the importance of the above steps that are standard procedures provided by Great Western Sewing Machine Services. There is NO certification process that must be completed before becoming a technician!
