As the story goes, I was now GIVEN the chance to learn the business, I found Harold through the local unemployment office. I was searching for a job when I came upon an opportunity to become a sewing machine repair technician that required a minimum of 5 years experience. Although I had no experience, I applied. The government counselor asked if I met the required qualifications, in which I replied, "Anybody can fix a sewing machine!" She assured me this was not the case! She, however had a friend named Harold Beingessner, the owner of Sewing Machine World in Calgary.

I approached Harold with a government sponsored apprenticeship program that would assist with the costs involved in sponsoring me in the program. I became very persistent with him showing-up at his store every couple of days, phoning, etc. Finally, he must have thought the only way to shut me up would be to hire me. I feel very lucky to have worked with Harold. I can honestly say that I would not have been the same person I am today without him! THANK YOU HAROLD!!! I will continue to persist in the business as I did in the beginning!
