ABOUT US
Great Western Sewing Machine Services has
been established in the Calgary market area for
the past 14 years. I began my career in the sewing machine industry many years ago with Sewing Machine World Ltd.
in Calgary (now defunct!). It was with Sewing Machine
World that I learned the basics of sewing machine repair (1 1/2 year government apprenticeship program) and the
business of customer service relations.
In 1986, Elna Canada
(Toronto, Ontario)
invited me to become their service manager. During this time I increased my knowledge and expertise while repairing
sewing machines and sergers from all across Canada
via the dealer network. I also provided training to the industry through this same dealer network and I've taught
many in the industry how to service both old and new sewing machines and sergers of all makes and models. As well,
I became an expert at locating defects and advising solutions to the factories, with regards to the sewing machines
and sergers that were being produced and sold.
I have attended a multitude of factory technician meetings (including
Geneva and Steckborne) and given many lectures
through out my years in the industry.
In 1990, I accepted a position with Bernina Canada
(Toronto,Ontario) to become the parts & service
manager for their Canada wide
operations. I held that position for the next four years. I resigned as Parts & Service Manager and was able
to hand pick and extensively train my successor. The reason for my resignation was my strong desire to return to
my hometown of Calgary, Alberta.
This provided me with the opportunity to begin Great Western
Sewing Machine Services (est.1993).
I have repaired sewing machines of all kinds and in the worst possible
conditions-dropped, stripped apart, etc. This provided me with the expertise and the increasing need to standardize
the way in which sewing machines and sergers are being serviced. I continue to offer wholesale/retail support to
any and all that ask. My greatest reward comes from my desire and determination to constantly strive for excellent
customer service, by setting industry service standards for sewing machines and sergers, now and in the future.

the way!
